Wow I have never received so many supporting emails and offers to lend advice to getting a SharePoint user group started in Houston.  Thanks so much to all who submitted a comment.  I did hear from the evangelist for my area and next step is to look into joining Houston's .Net User Group (HDNUG) as a special interest group.

If you are in the area and want to check out HDNUG, their next meeting is TONIGHT.  Sorry for the late notice, and unfortunately I am unable to attend.  But if you are available to go and want to put a bug in someone's ear, please do so and let me know!!

The featured speaker for tonight is J Sawyer (who also happens to be the dev evangelist) and his topic is “Building secure applications with Membership and Role Management using Visual Studio 2005 and ASP.NET 2.0”.

    Hi Heather,

I am with Not Rocket Science located in Madisonville, Louisiana and we are wanting to start a Sharepoint Users Group in the area. Can you give me any input as how to start one?

We would also like to join the group in Houston when we open an office in the area.

    Thanks,

    Heather Sharpe

I've been charged with implementing MS Office Project Server 2007, which relies heavily on SharePoint. I've been reading and studying on it for a few weeks. My employeer has agreed to pay for training - can you recommend any SharePoint Seminars that would be in the Houston area during the month of January?

I plan to pose the same question to "Houston Sharepoint Users Group" at http://sharepointusergroup.corasworks.net/HOU/default.aspx

    Thanks
