Application screens (a.k.a. "_layouts" screens) usually don't display the search in the header. There does appear to be a few screens out there that do, and depending on your design for application screens, this may throw a wrench in how your page looks.  To stop the search from showing in any application screen, add the following CSS style to your theme or alternate CSS file:

.ms-searchform {
     display: none
}

    Heather - Decent tip :) It's great how you can essentially disable what seems like embedded functionality with just a quick CSS statement like that.

    Hi.
    I have written a custom event receiver for ItemAdded, ItemAdding, ItemUpdate, ItemMove events to change permissions of file & folder using Sharepoint Object Model.
    This is working fine but when a folder is droped into the explorer view, this event handler is not getting fired. As folder permission modified in event receiver, Somehow I want to acheive this. Have done some R&D could't find solution. Want to apply custom permission for folder when folder is added to library.

    So, want a solution how to acheive this activity & fix this issue.
    Let me also know whether this known issue of Sharepoint?
    Awaitng for your reply...
